space is basically a sculpture driven studio class. physically putting something together is still one of my favorite things to do so this was also a class that i enjoyed. being in afo last semester i feel like the newer curriculum of specialized studio classes is a lot better. i feel like most people maybe thought they knew a subject like sculpture but now they have gotten the hands on with it and may even be reconsidering applying to that field(including myself).

we spent way more time this semester constructing things out of different materials. although a lot of the time you were confined to that particular material it forced you to learn limitations of what exactly it may or may not do. trying to make a free standing object out a everyday plastic grocery bag is quite a task. even making people use the wood shop more i feel like broaden their perspective. last year it felt like wood shop was optional type of thing that if you felt comfortable doing it was there but this year forced you into it. all the wood shop people were very helpful and didn't criticize/redirect you in a completely different way. sidenote: i just got a free red bull! our professor was very knowledgeable about all the materials we used which helped out. i know that a lot of the teachers here are strong suited in particular mediums and this semester i feel like they are matched up with what they should be teaching.
