Week 3

Well I don't think I anticipated how long it would take to handle this personal stuff. Either way it was another week of juggling that and coding at the same time and it looks to continue this week. I thought I would be through the HTML and CSS at this point but I still have some of the CSS tutorial to finish. I had experience in HTML/CSS/Flash in college but they didn't focus on HTML5 and all the new tags it incorporated. Going through a crash course tutorial is going to be limited but I got to use the

Week 2

This week I went out and did some personal stuff so the programming took a bit of a backseat. I did start the week on freecodecamp.com but they decided to reboot their curriculum this week and the tutorials were down as a result. I had come across another interesting tutorial route with theodinproject.com so I did it in the meantime. I immediately was installing ubuntu os on my pc to be able to run a proper terminal for git commands. This honestly was pretty fun. I know now the difference between GUI graphic user interface and CLI command line interaface and I felt like I was doing something as far as programming. Soon I had a few small ruby projects coded that used git pull commands (CLI) to host them on github.com from the terminal. It's actually seeing the files in the folder (GUI) afterwords that's rewarding. I'm still in the phase where this is so new. Odin has brought me to a point where I'm in the middle of a major HTML brush-up(building forms and using tables). Next I will be doing the same with CSS. I actually think that I'll jump from freecode to odin at this point and see how it approaches JavaScript.

Week 1

This process is something that is going to be pretty fluid. I wanted to focus but i'm finding all kinds of different sources. I also want to take a minute and thank my friend Jason Draper for offering up any help along the way.

It's been a week and I still look at code like I have no idea what it does. I literally look at the screen talking it out and sometimes get to an understanding and other times I do not. At this point I roughly gave myself a week on each sub section of learn.freecodecamp.org 's Javascript Algorithms And Data Structures Certification. They have a hint feature that will help me push through. Not sure if this is a bad thing or not. I plan on working it through the Object Oriented Programming. My rough schedule at this point estimates that at Thanksgiving. It kinda feels far away but i'm hoping at some point this just starts to click. I might have unrealistic expectations but I want to be able to have a decent understanding at that point. I'm planning on leaving this up unedited so I can get a good laugh later on when my life at this point was so much simpler. If you're my future employer reading this I came a really long way. LOL

Have fun!

Day one Programming.

This was actually 10/7/19:

Some time ago I had decided that it was going to be a good idea to start a career in a programming. That brief time saw me start JavaScript. I was excited but little did I know that teaching yourself something that complex was going to stop me in my tracks. It's been over a year since then and a lot is changing. I'm changing! The fact that I would still like to know this language has not so yet again I will attempt to start JavaScript!

Today it's a quick brush up on what freecodecamp.com has to offer. It's an overwhelming feeling at this point but im starting to see that I can write simple functions and if statements. I know building on these in the future will make them more and more complicated.

tredegar

this assignment was interesting.  i found it hard to think of a concept for a place i wasn't sure of.  when i got there i noticed that i was taking pictures of windows though empty window frames.  i used this right off the bat.  i was a little limited because i wanted to keep unnecessary obstacles that were all around.  when we showed our images in class i noticed how washed out my images were getting.  so i took the re shoot critique well.

Fmb BMX

My second event was a bmx bike show that one of my good friends was competing in.  prior to the event i asked him what type of aesthetic he preferred and we agreed that we would try and shoot the highest amount of action possible.  first thing i did there was turn on the continous shooting feature so i could capture the action at it's height.  it was a pretty good day for shooting a little overcast but sunny at times.  in class it was brought up that formally my images we a little washed out.  i like my images and maybe can see where some people are coming from but i had an idea of what my friend wanted and he was more then pleased.

Game Night

My event was game night.  i got some friends over and we played apples to apples.  it's a word assiocation game and i wanted to capture each persons facial expression with the card they won with.  i told them basically nothing except for the fact i was going to take their picture.  their expression was up to them.  formally my images were well in focus but dimly lit.  If game night happens again i will take the advice and shoot a combonation of the reactions and some of the actual game play.
